No one knows what resides in the Waylan. There are rumors, of course, folktales that have been spun through the generations to keep the youth from wandering the depths of the woods. Tales of witches, dryads, and orcs alike--mystical beings the villagers are all warned against encountering. But beyond these beings is one whose terror reigns supreme in the hearts of the three towns. It's the one who is responsible for their sheltered way of life, for the Kingdom of Valencia turning its backs on them all those years ago, and the one responsible for the 417 villagers who have disappeared in the last 20 years. The beasts of the Waylan. Besides the ravings of a few madmen, there has never been evidence for these so-called beasts' existence--that is until one night when a certain beauty finds herself face-to-face with a beast.
