Ever so slowly, he raised his hand to my cheek and softly brushed my skin with his fingertips. I closed my eyes, letting out a soft breath.
But before I could surrender completely to his touch, I took a step back and gently pushed his hand aside. ❝I'm sorry, my lord. I cannot allow this. If we were to be discovered, the King would have our heads.❞
He allowed his hand to drop to his side, then swiftly, he leaned closely to me and whispered, ❝Your love is worth more than my life, my lady.❞
