Patient Zero: (phrase) used to describe the first human to contract a new disease. This person can be invaluable to medicine as scientists can find out where the disease came from, and how to cure it.

Autumn Jacobs is the first known human to contract Eris-12. The Eris-12 outbreak's death toll has already reached into the billions, leaving those infected with zombie-like symptoms. Ashton Finnegan, a rogue teen, bands up with Autumn to escape the apocalypse. Navigating through a wasteland terrain, they must make decisions that could not only affect their fate, but the fate of humanity itself. Those who are trying to cure the disease are chasing Autumn down, believing that she has the key. Those who created the virus plan to kill her, so a cure cannot be found.
