Rowan's dad vanished eight years ago, and she just tapped into his magic for the first time. 

The world of Alitheia is intertwined with magic and technology, composed of four cities stretching miles into the sky sheltered from a deadly storm that stretches over entire continents. It's where her dad was born, and now that Rowan is a runecaster, she's bound for Alitheia whether she or her mom likes it or not. 

There, she has the chance to learn to runecast and discover what happened to her dad - or fail, and spend her life rotting in the dinky Oregon town of Costa Lomas from which she's been trying to escape since her dad vanished.  

Rowan leaps at the chance. It comes at the cost of finding out why her mom, the most terrifying person she knows, did everything in her power to keep her away from Alitheia and its complex web of magic, politics and war.

It comes at the cost of Rowan finding out that her family's history in Alitheia is so much dangerous than she could have imagined.
