Before the Dragon Eye, before the war against the Dragon Riders, Krogan was once a young man under a different name and a different life. He was Mordecai, the son of the Chief in a faraway land, with an intelligent sister named Calypso. Their lives suddenly shatter when Krogan is caught poisoning a dragon, bringing their peaceful village into utter destruction. He is exiled, and Calypso is left with her village that's burned to the ground.
Calypso is forced to flee from the wreckage, and along with the few survivors, they venture into a territory they had never crossed: the Archipelago. On the unforbidden land of the Northern Markets, Calypso unknowingly crosses paths with the mysterious Dragon Hunter, Viggo Grimborn, and finds herself trapped in his web of lies and sweet words. Caught between a blossoming relationship and the truth, Calypso must discover who she is and decide where she stands.

Whether they can save the world depends on whether they can survive themselves. Mature rating for blood, gore and depictions of violence. TW: mentions of drunkards and beer, mention of physical abuses, a description of trypophobia, claustrophobia, and other phobias, and descriptions of nasty cryptids. There is no depictions or allusions of sex, no f-bombs, or drug abuse. This story was started when I was in seventh grade. I finished the original when I was a senior in high school. Displeased with the finished product, I began to rewrite it here, starting June 2015, then again in 2020. I am quite satisfied with the result, and am sure this will be the final edition. This isn't the first book of the series, but there's no spoilers for 'The World is Larger than it Seems', so you can start on this one. The story is far from finished, however, and I hope to eventually finish the series.

Will the relationship between Dragon Rider and Dragon Hunter burn hotter than a dragon's fire or will they be forced to leave each other because of how different they are?
