Tegan and Mason have been next door neighbors since diapers. Their parents have worked at the same law firms and became close friends, which was always fun for the pair of friends. That was until the dreaded teenage years when everything went downhill with their relationship.

Mason Kit has been in love with Tegan Piper pretty much as far back as he can remember. He's noticed every little thing about her: the adorable upturn of her button nose, the depths of her chestnut/honey eyes, the way her blond hair frames her face in the most perfect way, and the way she has the most beautiful figurer he's every seen on a woman (and he's seen his fair share of women). The one thing Mason has failed to realize, though? That most of Tegan's smiles are fake.

Tegan Piper is one of the biggest enigmas she's ever met. As both she and her best friend, Casey, have pointed out, she has some of the worst luck anyone has ever had. Her family situation is about as shitty as it comes, no thanks to her mother and her fantastic choice in men. As Tegan struggles through the revolving door of father figures in her life, the one rock in her life-her relationship with her childhood best friend, Mason-has completely disintegrated before her eyes. Their humorous teasing has turned into teenage bullying. In Tegan's eyes, Mason and his group of friends should all go to hell and stay there forever.

As Mason tries to show Tegan his true feelings and patch their strained relationship, they'll have to navigate the troubles of high school and a difficult home life...together.
