Mathematics doesn't lie, it doesn't cheat, it doesn't twist its words. It simply lays itself bare to you and that is why Leighton Gilmore loves it so much. Mathematics cannot hide from you. Not the way love can. Which is why she has denounced it once and for all. Time to focus on herself now that her divorce is fully finalised and the new school year has begun. New school year, new her, new philosophy on life. Love is for the Lorelai's of the world who find it in every second-hand Bangles shirt and the bitter sweetness of coffee. Logic is for the Leighton's who need a cigarette after every emotional conversation.

And then, in walks Jethro Feldman. Mr theater himself. His classroom is just down the hall and she can hear every wailing performance as it goes on throughout the day. His laughter is starting to disrupt her classes on Pythagorean Theorem. He doesn't care one bit. He's too busy being the happy-go-lucky single dad who brings his daughter to school on the back of his motorcycle and makes waffles with too much syrup.

So, maybe tomorrow he'll convince her that love is better when your parents aren't paying for it.
