"Let me have your power, I won't fight the darkness anymore." She closed her eyes as her body burned.

"What are you willing to give?" the darkness whispered.

"Everything."

And then it stopped. Because suddenly... the world went quiet.

"Ah, you're not Half-Illyrian anymore, you're my Enchantress."

Rhysand watched as Rhaenyra opened her eyes and he knew what she had done. Her eyes were no longer that light brown color.

They were red.

That gods-damned bitch had whipped her so brutally that he'd rarely seen such blood spilled as a result.

Then ripped her wings. To break her. To torture her

His Rhaenyra, locked in that darkness.

She'd tried to tell him. Right before the army came.

Tried to tell him about Amarantha's betrayal.

She knew what was going to happen.

The cost. She had given all of herself. Had given up her life. Her humanity burned away.

Turned to nothing but dust between worlds.

There would be no more Rhaenyra, only her body and this power.

Rhysand knew in his heart that Rhaenyra would do whatever he asked, even if it meant Rhaenyra's life, therefore he was always careful never to ask too much.

The girl who was neglected and abused. The girl who found love and lost it as a cost of her happiness.

The girl who survived the Illyrian camps because she would not be afraid.

The girl who made friends and fought for her freedom.

The girl who was taught to not be a coward.

 Rhaenyra Nikova.

"It was all borrowed time anyway." She'd told him.

Rhaenyra did not expect them to come for her.

She, who had come for them, who had found them all.

If any of them, had it in then to change the world, it had been her. But no more.

Devlon's hard gaze meets mine, "But remember, girl, that Illyrians will not be forgiving. Or pleasant. There are other posts and positions, are you sure you want to be a healer?" "Yes." I answer honestly. Because I can't risk anything else. ---- Meira is a healer at Windhaven, and after being found in mysterious circumstances, she's set on trying to keep a low profile. She remembers nothing before they found her, and now she's content being Devlon's ward and a successful healer among the females and males alike. She's treasured by Devlon like the daughter he never had, and protects her with everything he has. She's always known she was different, and then she does something nobody had ever seen before... That's when she catches the Inner Circle's attention, after saving one of their own. "Everything hurt. Nothing felt...real. It was cold in this dark cell. I had long ago given up screaming for help, or trying to get the door open. The wound in my side would kill me soon. Would anyone come? I didn't know. I didn't care. At least, I didn't care until that door finally opened and a man with wings stepped into my small cell." ****** Adrianna grew up in an Illyrian war camp. Their brutal ways forced her to hide in ways she didn't want to. Then when she was caught teaching herself to fly, she was punished, her wings bound with clamps. Then, her parents presented her with a male that she would marry. He was one of the few considerate Illyrian males in the camp, but when he is suddenly murdered, she is blamed for the heinous crime. Then, she was taken Under the Mountain and forced to fight to the death in a Ring created by the evil Amarantha for the enjoyment of her evil Court. For twenty-two years she remained in a small, dark cell, only leaving to fight or to perform other tasks the evil Fae from Hybern demanded until an Illyrian man came to save her. He was none other than Azriel, the Shadowsinger and the High Lord's Spymaster. Whisked away to the Court of Dreams, her wounds were cared for, her wings... somewhat fixed. Now, she works for High Lord Rhysand as his personal assassin, but when a startling discovery comes around about her past, she must make a decision that could cost her everything. ****I do not own the drawings featured in the cover. These Cruel and Wicked Things | ACOTAR

35 parts Ongoing Mature

・❥・ She thought maybe she was okay with being wicked. That she was so angry, so desperately, bitterly livid. She thought perhaps there were pieces of this world that deserved her wrath. Her wickedness. Some souls who deserved to be snuffed out. ・❥・ Cirsei Silvaeus had run away from home. A "home" that was much more akin to a prison, a crypt within which she would waste away to nothing. Cirsei's father, Valentine, had been keeping her under his thumb ever since the death of her mother. Regarding her as little more than an object, a piece of property which could turn him a profit, he subjected her to wretched, unspeakable cruelty. Her escape had been impulsive, fueled by the desperation harbored only by those who were fighting for their lives. She does not make it very far before crashing into an Illyrian general who, to her dismay, pulls her into his world. Surrounded by new faces, a new city, and a new sense of uncertainty about her future, Cirsei feels she has traded one prison for another. She will come to learn that this could not be further from the truth - but this lesson is not without its growing pains. Takes place shortly before Under the Mountain.
