A gruesome killing at a Shanghai museum marks the beginning of a series of events that no one could have predicted.
Tasked with solving the crime, Zhao Yunlan, the young but capable leader of the city's Special Crimes Division, immediately notices a connection to Imperial China, and seeks out an expert to assist with the case.
Shen Wei, the youngest ever head of Shanghai Metropolitan University's Department of Ancient History, finds his quiet, uneventful life suddenly turned on its head by the presence of the charming, charismatic police chief.
Despite their drastically different personalities, the unlikely pair must quickly find a way to work together, as bodies escalate and stakes rise. But things take a sudden turn when Shen Wei's world is invaded by an unexpected danger emerging from the shadows, threatening the burgeoning relationship between the two men, and even the investigation itself.
This story is a fanfiction based on characters in the Chinese drama, Guardian, and the Priest novel of the same name. The plot is my own. I have tried to be accurate with all historical references and with the geography of modern day Shanghai, but I apologise in advance for any inadvertent errors.

Zhao Yunlan was a well-known Guardian of the human realm who hunted down even the most dangerous ghost that plagued the broken world, but a casual encounter with a mysterious professor at Dragon City University changed more than the chaos in which humanity found itself for hundred of years, he also changed to his own destiny. A new case of murder at the University, brings two unsolved murders back to haunt Zhao Yulan. This story was the result of watching Bai Yu in Memory Lost. In Ep 1 Zhao complains that Shen Wei had not visited them since his father had retired. Presuming he wasn't working for his father in SID, as Shen didn't know he was there, what was Zhao doing before he was Chief? No Beta and so all mistakes are mine. Sorry. The Reunion
When 4 peoples are reunited in the same place which bringing them to the unexpected incidents caused them work together to solve the problem they faced. Zhao Yunlan, the chief of SID led his teammates to find the murderer that ran away to the strange place. At there, the SID staffs met with a group of archeological team which led by Prof. Hu and one of those teammates is a beautiful lecturer named Shen Wei which can melt any guy's hearts. Zhao Yunlan surprised to see the same face as the murderer he and his teammates tried to catch named Luo Fusheng. However, they met with another teammates that also has the same face as the murderer that Zhao Yunlan wanted to catch and that one is Wu Xie. Yezhun came late when his sister called him to bring the missing thing that she needed in the archeological work. As their groups met each other, Zhao Yunlan surprised to know that there is a murderer who wanted to kill these 4 similar faces which are Shen Wei, Yezhun, Wu Xie and Luo Fusheng. Is Luo Fusheng really a murderer that Zhao Yunlan wanted to catch? Can Luo Fusheng excaped when the murders keep happening through the reunion amongst them? Why are these 4 peoples having the similar faces and who is the one who wanted to kill these 4 peoples? Can Zhao Yunlan solve this murder case? Can he save these 4 peoples in this strange place especially the girl that already stole his heart away? Author's note: In this story, I will combine 3 dramas characters from Guardian, The Reunion Sound of Providence and Granted Dream Like but the main characters of course Zhao Yunlan and Shen Wei from the Guardian.
