Ember

123 years after a technology meltdown started a worldwide war, the United States of America shut down all elaborate technology. No television, no computers, no cellphones, no cameras, no cars, no planes, and no elaborate war weaponry or medical technology was ever taken out of government housing. All of which were considered dangerous and any parts or pieces of technology that could be used to create anything elaborate we're banned. States were divided into villages with no more than a 5 mile radius. Anyone who broke any laws or travelled outside their village for suspicious acts was taken into government custody or taken back to their village and tortured in front of the entire community.
