River Sayles is a bestselling author, but he also has clinical depression. One day, he randomly decides to commit suicide by downing some pills, only for his teenage son to come pay a visit. Waking up in a hospital, River is informed that he will remain in the psychiatric ward until he's not seen as a harm to himself. It doesn't take long for him to bond with fellow patients, particularly a quirky female. Melancholic shenanigans ensue.
