Hypothetically, there was no real reason that Isa Flores shouldn't be valedictorian of her class by the time that graduation rolls around. If she wanted to be able to afford going to law school, she needed to get the full-ride scholarship that Baylor University gave out to students who graduated high school at the top of their class.

In reality, the stress of multiple AP classes, practices for sports, working out and working to help out her parents made keeping her grades up a lot less practical.

But the main thing in her way wasn't a number on a test or a game she needed to win. It was the guy next door who had been her closest friend for years until she cut him off when he hurt her in a way she didn't think him to be capable of.

Just her luck, she's stuck doing a project that's worth a large portion of her AP Psych final grade with the guy who had destroyed a part of her, and if she wasn't on top of everything, he'd destroy her chances at the entire future she'd planned for herself.

Nathan Baker hates Julian Cruz. He hates his snarky attitude, he hates how overly confident he is, but most of all--he hates how good he is at football. He hates how stupid Roosevelt High school took home the championship trophy and the way the stupid rival team picked up his stupid rival, chanted his stupid name while he looked at Nathan with a stupid grin. Yep, Nathan hates him. But this year is his year. He's the captain of the Cortland Foxes football team, he's the starting quarterback, and he finally is back on good terms with his on and off girlfriend, Veronica. Senior year is the year. That is until on the first day of training the coach introduces someone who, in fact, does not need an introduction and Nathan almost explodes with anger on the spot. The feeling of hatred is very much mutual for Julian Cruz. He hates Nathan Baker with every fiber in his body. He hates his Hollywood attitude, he hates how rich he is, but greater than all--he hates how good he is at football. Sure, Julian had made the lucky catch and managed to make the final touchdown of the championship game and win, sure, he was praised as a God for the rest of that school year and got scouted by a couple college coaches. But none of that matters now that he and his Mom have gotten kicked out from their apartment and the only place they could find is too far to continue his laid-back life at Roosevelt High. It doesn't matter anymore because now he is forced to go to the one school in the world he would never have chosen if given the chance. Cortland High school, home of the foxes and his worst enemy. Well, since they're on the same team now they have to reach some sort of compromise...right? Who knows, maybe, just maybe, they'll like each other more than either of them though.

[BOOK 1] "I won't leave" I whisper, and he smiles, "I know, baby" he says softly, and my lips tug upwards into a smile. "You're the exception" he continued, his tone tender as he pressed a short, sweet kiss to my forehead. I didn't know it then, but I started falling in love with Finn Brookes, we were each other's exceptions. * * * Lily Garcia didn't come to university looking for love-especially not with someone like Finn Brooks. He's charming, infuriating, and a walking complication she doesn't need. But no matter how hard she tries to keep her distance, there's something about him that feels like gravity, pulling her closer with every encounter. Beneath his cocky exterior, she senses the fractures he tries to hide-the same ones she's been running from her entire life. Finn's been through hell, and love isn't part of the plan. He's good at keeping his walls high, locking out anyone who might get too close. But then Lily shows up, and suddenly his carefully controlled life begins to unravel. She's everything he didn't know he was missing, and that scares him more than he's willing to admit. But with their pasts threatening to destroy what they could be, and old friends trying to drive a wedge between them, trust becomes their biggest hurdle. And when a new love interest steps into the picture, everything Lily and Finn thought they were building starts to fall apart. Fighting their demons was never supposed to include each other, but now they have to decide if the risk of heartbreak is worth the reward of finally letting someone in.

Marius switches schools at the beginning of his Junior year and meets Jae. Jae is attracted to Marius but is not accepting of these feelings, so he, instead, bullies and beats Marius. As the story progresses, Jae's mental health deteriorates, and life as he knows it falls apart. The people who ultimately pick up the pieces of Jae's broken self and helps him put them back together turn out to be people Jae never expected to stand up for him. Life turns out to be pretty alright. But, things are never what they seem. And for Jake, Jae's best friend, life is especially brutal. ***sad ending*** I do not condone violence or homophobia of any kind, nor am I intending on romanticizing them. This is a work of fiction, but it also serves to show how important mental health truly is. I am a big believer that the mind requires just as much care as the body, and that everyone deserves to pursue their happiness and be loved and accepted by the right people. I also keep editing, even after I've edited and published. It sucks editing your own stuff because mistakes keep popping up :( I'm relatively new with story writing, and I'll admit that it kind of sucks starting out, but please read! It's brutal and sad at times, and it will probably trigger some... A lot of... people, but it gets better! Or at least I feel it does. WARNING: This story contains a lot of the following mature content: *profanity *physical violence *bullying *homophobic language *mentions of self-harming behavior/suicide and other symptoms of poor mental health *sexually mature content between two (and three) males - high smut content If any of the aforementioned mature subjects bother you, then please click away, now. But I hope you, dear reader, will give it a chance! Some of what I write might not be very realistic or accurate, but it's my story, and I'll write it to my heart's desire... Just so you are aware.
