Clary Fairchild and Alec Lightwood find themselves battling their own demons, and not the ones who terrorize the mundanes in the midst of the night. They make discoveries about themselves and the people they had called family, causing them to rethink everything they thought they had known. Along the way, they realize that blood doesn't mean as much as the Clave would have them believe.
