When the Great Zap fish goes missing and Callie disappears. Marie takes it on her self to recruit a strange Octoling from a far away land to help he assist in finding where Callie went. But a strange faction of Sanitized Octolings adorned with Advanced technology start to appear and the new agent Marie recruits seems to have the same strange powers. Things go form crazy to Bizzar when they discover a secret that has been sleeping below Inkopolis for thousands of years.

It strikes at night, it's blade cutting down everyone that gets in it's way. One night, four travelers gather to stop the shadow, and go out to fight it. Life is boring for a little while until Y takes them to meet their friends. And for a moment, life doesn't seem so bad... Until they invade. Not Makoids, not Salmonids. The Chrysalings. Strange hybrids of insects and cephalopods have come to Inkopolis bay to take everyone back to their home, wanting to please their ruler with the love for music, friends and battle that everyone has. With X, Y, and a few others surviving hidden in the ship of NS Arctorra, it's up to them to bring everyone back and restore the bay to what it was before.
