We want to tell stories playing in the Egyptian province. Everyday stories that are true and happening until today. They are about the live of simple people, about helpfulness and charity, about little and big rascals. Many of them make you smile, others make you start thinking.
For Europeans and Americans, the stories often might seem unrealistic, like being from 1001 night. In countries where the welfare state regulates everything, this kind of coexistence and mutual help no longer exists. In Egypt they are the order of the day.
My husband Mahmoud is telling me these stories, when we are sitting together in the evening smoking Shisha and drinking tea. They are simple stories - written down as far as possible in his own words to keep them unadulterated and authentical.
The names of the protagonists are changed because of privacy.
