Dahlia has lived in our universe as an immortal for centuries. She has a soft spot for this universe - all the good and all the bad - and has made the best of an admittedly bad situation. Her universe? It...went through some things, but who cares, when ours is so inviting? The thing about peace and tranquility is that it's always fleeting, and when her former best friend is murdered in cold blood, Dahlia will put her own life - and that of a very unwilling, broody sidekick - at risk to solve a murder that should never have been possible in the first place.

The world isn't really what you think it is. Below the surface there is a battle for good and evil. Supernatural beings live, love and fight on both sides of the war. No one knows who's winning and depending on who you ask what side they are on, good or evil. Lines were drawn thousands of years ago. Between those that fed on humans in some way or another called Verga versus those that didn't called Empa. A battle that never ends with only one reward. Their consort, a supernatural beings soul mate. Dahlia is Kitsune. A kind of shape shifter that takes the form of a fox. She believes Kitsune are on the good side of the war. She was lucky her consort was born in her pack. They were neighbours and best friends since a young age. Their relationship was beautiful and special. In a time when many Kitsune were not able to find their consort James and Dahlia were never without theirs. Then an evil Wraith took James' life and Dahlia's reason for living away along with her capacity to love. The Wendigo found Dahlia in the twisted metal heap that used to be their car, just moments before her soul left her body. He fed his blood to Dahlia and brought her back to his home against her will. Dahlia should have died that day for more reason than one. But for some reason she was getting healthier by the day. Why is she alive? How could she live without her consort James? How was she going to raise their child without her ability to love? Why did the Wendigo save her? Why does he call Dahlia his consort? Most importantly...why does Dahlia want to believe him?
The Aeon Below by dailcean
33 parts Ongoing
The Aeon Below Deep beneath the frozen ribs of the mountain lies a place the world pretends not to see, the Cave of the Dead, a place where light dies and the air itself hums with mourning. They say those who venture in never come back sane..if they come back at all. For centuries, no one has reached its final chamber - a cathedral vast and golden, carved for gods long forgotten. No one... until Dahlia. A down-on-her-luck woman desperate to escape her parasitic relatives, Dahlia joins an expedition to explore the cave, hoping to make enough money to buy her peace. Instead, she finds him, a corpse that isn't quite dead, standing before a massive flat monolith that flickers like a tomb-screen, each word it shows pulsing with thought. A being who calls himself Caelir, once a god, now fallen and bound as the barrier between the living and the underworld. When Dahlia accidentally touches the Black Salt Stone, she gives Caelir what he's been waiting centuries for: a tether to her mind. From that moment on, his voice curls through her thoughts like smoke, mocking, taunting, amused. For the first time in hundreds of years, he's not alone. For the first time in her life, Dahlia has someone who listens though she wishes he wouldn't. But Caelir's interest in Dahlia isn't mercy. To awaken his preserved body, to tear free of his prison, he must drain the soul of the one who touched the Stone...her. And though he tells himself it's inevitable, her stubborn humor, her greed, and her defiance begin to unravel something inside him, something dangerously human. As Dahlia delves deeper into the cave's labyrinth of death, she realizes that her worst enemy isn't the whispers of the dead... It's the voice inside her head. ~~~ Early draft, being revised for publication elsewhere.

28 parts Complete Mature

For Amari, the universe has never been on her side. Heartache is all she has known since she was 17. Incidents made her build walls higher than the great wall of china. She shut down, she cut people off. Now grown she avoids anything that can hurt her. So pretty much everything. She doesn't participate in anything. Doesn't engage in conversations. She goes unnoticed. Or so she thought. Shawn has observed this for months now. She is in almost every class of his but never has he seen her talk to anyone that isn't a professor. He makes it his mission to befriend her. But will she let him in? Will she even him the time of day? He fails the first few tries but luckily Shawn one thing he is really good at is being stubborn. •••• " I hope this seat isn't taken" " What do you really want Ginger, I thought I told you to get lost" I really don't mean to sound like a bitch. " I want to get to know you," " While sorry to burst your bubble but I'm not interested," I say without looking at him. " While I wasn't asking" he retorts I scoff " I'll just ignore you " " I'll like to see you try," he says which makes me look up from my laptop to find him smiling at me.
