Phil Brown, a blacksmith, and the adoptive father of Evelyn gave out a contract to kill unwanted monsters. Evelyn is unhappy with his decision and tries to kill them herself. The Witcher, Geralt of Rivia made it just in time for her to not get any severe injuries. He sees her potential in swordsmanship but is not willing to share his lonely ride through the continent. Jaskier, the bard, on the other hand, wants to travel more than anything with Geralt, to collect material for his ballads. Geralt made his way out of Cintra and found Ciri near Sodden. He started to train her, the only way where he could think to have her safe from Nilfgaard. Meanwhile, Evelyn barely was out of Cintra, now a province of Nilfgaard. She's on Geralt's track, or at least she tries to. It's the first time in her life that she had to accomplish something on her very own. Geralt's journey didn't go straight to the old and demolished castle.
