(The beginning takes place right after the van scene in 04x08)
Jonathan finds it hard to keep up with Nancy, it's hard enough when he's with her and now, he's all the way in California...with Argyle. They're perfect together, everyone knows it. Jonathan just refuses to accept that his best friend just might be the love of his life.
Nancy on the other hand? She's having some feelings she's never felt before. Especially for a girl. That girl is Robin Buckley. Nancy's total opposite. How is she supposed to tell Jonathan? How was she supposed to tell anyone? Then there's the chance that Robin was straight. Nancy couldn't handle that rejection.
And then there's Eddie and Steve, happy as ever to the naked eye, but despite everyone's pleas, they aren't such a great match. Eddie misses Steve, before this whole talk of Jonathan coming back in town. Steve can't seem to get over a certain someone, but he still tries to make it work with Eddie, after all, even if Eddie doesn't think so, Steve loves him.
Will and Mike know about their undying feelings toward each other, they've discussed it and dealt with it, but Mike just can't seem to break it off with El, despite her constantly assuring him she knows his mind is elsewhere. So they continue in a one-sided relationship. El just wants Will to be happy, so she's compliant to share. Everyone is happy.
Max is in love with El. It's all she thinks about day and night. Sleepovers with El? Max's paradise. She knows about Mike wanting to be with Will, and she knows she wants to be with El, she'll do anything to get that, even if it means useless advice when it comes to Mike, it's all harmless...right?
