"Father has decided I will become the next apprentice for Guardskeep Gabriel."

Valen was simple. She didn't want much and didn't ask for much. She had a community that cared for her and a mother who loved her. But her father? She wished she had never known the man.

It came to a point when she thought he forgot about her altogether but suddenly she is told something she would have never expected. The Guardskeep of their pack needs a new apprentice, and her father had volunteered her for the role.

Suddenly she is forced into a role that is the total opposite of someone with her kind nature. A role that does not care for her innocence or her age, one that will kill her all the same. It's a role that is held with honour and respect, it's a job no one would ever want for their child. Once you send them off you realize then that they will never return the same, or most of the time, not at all.

With no way out, she now must survive in a world that already sees her as dead all while trying to earn their respect as The Silver Crest's pack next Guardskeep.

If only it was all that simple.
