Mariah Upshaw was a diver.
Slicing the ocean with every ounce of power she had in her. She was the best diver there was.
But after her mom died of type 1 lung cancer, everything fell apart.
Mariah became depressed and suicidal. Every day she'd cut herself or try to overdose. And if it wasn't bad enough, everyday after getting home from a day of tormented bullying from her fellow peers, her dad would come home to abuse her.
Over the course of 3 years after her mothers death, Mariah had stopped diving. But then one day, someone, her most hurtful bully, brings her back to reality. He shows her what she let go.
And maybe, just maybe, with a little help from Adam Archer, Mariah can get back what she left behind all those years ago.

My Confessional
Writing a memoir at only fifteen years old has taught me a lot. Giving me the time to reflect on the lessons I learned the hard way and the mistakes I've made thus far. I learned, if there is at least two sides to every story, there is at least two sides to every person. What could be a smile is a broken heart in a deeper reality. We all live in a society where nothing is as it seems, the people being more complex and astonishing than the countless novels we read. And in a world ruled by tragedies, we are the survivors. Getting through our own history, more important to us then what we read in school. We take our story one page at a time, word by word because in the end, it will all be worth it. I dedicate this memoir to the people who have been with me on my journey of self discovery, even if only in spirit. Mom- Who has made non stop sacrifices to ensure my happiness and well being. Nothing would be possible without you! Grandma- Who has inspired me and made a huge influence to the person I am now and who I'll be in the future.
