A humble nurse catches the eye of a tortured soldier. 

Helen Carter has never been one for being the center of attention. She, in fact, despises it. Instead, she prefers to work in the background where she can help those who cannot help themselves. 

Bucky Barnes never had a choice to fight for his country, but was instead made to. But when he meets a young nurse, he has a choice to make. Pursue a potential future or let her slip away. 

Love is won and love is lost in the tragedy of war.

But prior to all that, prior to when the problems truly begin, it starts with three teen best friends, Steven 'Steve' Rogers, James 'Bucky' Barnes, and Carmen Ripley, all living Brooklyn. Their friendship began with a football landing in swim loving teen, Carmen. And slowly their story moves to three adult best friends facing the problems of Earth.
