After the events of the movie the brothers have to deal with loss and grief, adjusting to the aftermath of the Krang invasion. One night when Leo becomes overwhelmed he lashes out and accidentally creates a portal. But this portal isn't like any he's created before, as it leads to an entirely different dimension. And as Leo watched it closely someone walked out, it was... Mikey?
(This book does not villainize the 2012 brothers. But it also does not erase the poor way they treat each other)
