His brother encourages him and his ambitions, secretly training him and passing down his wisdom to him. Things go downhill however when Twistedwish is banished from the Clan. Hawkpaw is never told why, but he continues achieving to become like his brother, which begins to scare every cat in ThistleClan. 

When a great war between the three Clans breaks out, Hawkhope hears a shocking revelation: Twistedwish had secretly been training with the Dark Forest in hopes of becoming leader of all Clans and the forest and secretly trained Hawkhope so that he could follow in his pawsteps too.
