"There will always be light at the end of the tunnel", that is what has been said for the past hundred of years. No matter what happens, it will always get better, right?

What if all of this is false? What if there are no happy endings? What if at the end of the tunnel there is nothing, except for darkness? What if all of this is a lie? What if...

Late at night those were the thoughts that crossed Kierra's mind. Laying on her mattress in her now empty room, traces of her dried tears covering her cheeks, she could only do that; get lost in her never-ending mind.

What if it never gets better? Thinking was the only way she had to make her wounds less painful. There was a reason why she could only have her dark thoughts, why would she have joyful ones? It would only increase the false hopes that would build up inside of her and would only make her fall even harder.

But at the end of each day, she could never get rid of this one phrase, this one voice in her head, what if it gets better after all?
