Samara Snape is the year younger sister of Severus Snape, which their relationship was not that of close siblings. The obvious favoritism from their parents ruined their chances of being close early on in their lives, although Samara hated the fact that their abusive, drunken father favored her. While Severus did nothing about it, Samara begged her mother to leave their father and move the three of them somewhere safe. But, by the time Eileen was ready to take her daughter's advice, it was too late. Tobias, in a fit of drunken rage, snapped and killed his wife right in front of their ten year old daughter while Severus was at Hogwarts for his first year. Their father was arrested and taken to a Muggle prison, which Samara was quick and smart about hiding hers and Severus's existence that day to the police. She temporarily removed them from pictures in order to protect them from being placed in the Muggle foster system. Upon realizing all he had was the sister, whom he despised, Severus became worse to her than usual despite her trying to take on a motherly role. But, she remained kind to him as he was the only family she had left. They became more distant as she was then placed in Ravenclaw at school and was not targeted by the bullies he had. In fact, the bizarre amount of respect his sister got from James Potter and his band of goons made him more angry at her. And over time, things just get worse.

"I'm sorry, I just... remembered something," she muttered as her fingers traced the scars on her throat.
He placed his hands on her shoulders before whispering, "It's just me."
"It's just you," she sighed.

(I do not condone Rowling's transphobic beliefs, so let's set aside the person from the work.)
