Rumor Of Solace

There was once a nobleman's son, born under Spellcast, gifted with a special quality unmatched by any other. His gift went unrecognized for quite some time, although the knowledge of his Casted birth had always been overt. When it became apparent just how strong the gift made his Aura, he was at once shunned by the general public and his noble status was degraded to that of the lowest son's, even being an only child.
A daughter was soon born into the family, and she, having not been Casted upon at all, immediately took on the title of heiress. The son accepted this fate and lived as he was told to. He acted lesser than his peers as not to be beaten by them and their likeness. He often found the company of servants more pleasurable than that of his own family's. But even so, no matter how much trust he gained among the servants, whenever a mistake was made it was he who took the blame. Every downfall led back to his name, and some offhanded remark or demand he had given.
In the life that he lived with the fate that had been set before him, he was not happy. He had moments of joy and smiled enough to appear sane, but he was not happy. He couldn't remember a day when he had been. He could only think of the darkness that seemed to ail him as he walked the halls of his forever home of luxury. And yet,
