Linda Myerston is a dedicated detective currently engaged in the investigation of a crime scene that has been heavily influenced by criminal elements associated with the notorious crime boss in Insomnious City, known as Bulk Fist. This individual operates with an iron grip, and law enforcement efforts to dismantle his organization have proven unsuccessful, with past attempts resulting in the disappearance of those who drew near. The pervasive fear surrounding Bulk Fist has led many to abandon the case.

In contrast, a vigilante known as Suffering has emerged within the city, actively targeting and dismantling Bulk Fist's organization and its affiliates. Despite police efforts to apprehend her, no officers have succeeded in this endeavor. The local media has taken notice of Suffering's actions, and in response, Bulk Fist has placed a bounty on her head, vowing to uncover her identity and eliminate her.

What remains undisclosed is the fact that the vigilante Suffering is, in truth, Linda Myerston. She adopted the moniker Suffering for deeply personal reasons: at the age of twelve, Linda experienced the tragic loss of her mother, Margaret Myerston, who was killed by a vehicle driven by associates of criminals eluding police capture. This traumatic event profoundly affected Linda, leading her to reside with her mother's close friend, Andrea Brockton, who provided support during her upbringing.

At her mother's funeral, Linda made a solemn vow to bring down Bulk Fist and his criminal enterprise, ensuring that those responsible for such suffering would be held to account, regardless of the cost.
