People talked for eternity, it seemed, yet she couldn't make herself listen to the words. The voices blended in, creating a haze of tones she couldn't quite comprehend. She could almost feel them moving around, yet she didn't join the world. This perplexed her, the state that she was in that seemed to last for centuries.

Some things stuck with her, though, as if some ghosts lingered on her being. The words sometimes clinged to her, allowing her to dwell on their magic. A voice she heard in her heart. Still, she couldn't place the bearer. All she knew was that she itched to live upon hearing it, that she fought to open her eyes when that person was near.

Day after day, year after year, it felt as if she was getting better. The voices seemed clearer, the touches more significant. She didn't know when she had conquered it, the darkness that had held her prisoner for so long. However, when she finally opened her eyes, she was lost. She had expected to see everything, to know everything when she escaped the crutches of the endless void. But when she woke up, she had failed herself and couldn't remember a thing.
