Pain and horror is a normalcy in the mafia world. Many children born into this world have seen dead bodies before they get their license. It's one of the many rules of being a mafia heir, as is never letting the darkness of the underworld touch their women. Wives, sisters, daughters, are all off limits. 

Until Aurora Salvatore gets dragged to hell and back by her own husband, Nico Russo, once her family secret gets out. She is missing for over a month before she is found, although she feels as though she died in that dark basement. 

Instead of being consumed by the darkness, her familia initiates her into their mafia business and she makes it her life's purpose to hunt her husband down and make him pay for the torture and brutality she faced at his hands. 

When the deadliest familia member Dominico Vitale comes home from Italy to avenge his sister's death, he suspects Aurora of betraying the familia. He sends his men to watch her, keeps close tabs on her, yet cannot figure out how she is always 2 steps ahead of him. 

The deadly duo quickly learn that they have much more in common than they thought, and work together to find the Russo's before the Russo's find them.
