Agent 4 is a bit of a hothead, reckless, and extroverted. However, he finds a soft spot for the Octoling after he lets him stay in his humble abode during their first-day meeting. It wasn't long until that soft spot began to grow...

This story takes place after what happened during the Octo Expansion! So, obvious Octo Expansion spoilers ahead.

He would hope to live a normal life but that would never happen as a disaster so severe would strike humanity so he did what was best for everyone else rather than him.
