Working the late shift at the local fast-food joint isn't anything special. Really. It's not. Come in, serve a few dozen customers off the road, clean up after them, go home, sleep, repeat. It's a rinse-dry cycle, day in, day out; boring, until the odd half-and-half haired girl starts coming in, drops twenty dollars on her thirteen-dollar meal nightly without fail, and never says more than she has to. She's always seemed a little odd, but that's whatever. Right? It's whatever. She's just a little quiet. That's all.

That's all, until the guy with the scarred lip and wicked, wicked eyes comes in, leaves a threat for her, and disappears. Suddenly, working the late shift becomes a lot less mundane, and the girl becomes a lot more than a "little odd." Perhaps indulging in something you aren't certain finds its roots in love or lust so recklessly isn't a great idea; but then again, don't the riskiest moves have the greatest rewards?
