Six months after the Blip, a group of radicals, who think life was better when half of all life was gone, is trying to make the world a better place. But their efforts are less than ideal.

Three former allies team up, alongside a baron who is not afraid to do what is needed, whether it's on the side of the law or not, to deal with the radicals and forge a friendship neither expected.

The shield meanwhile, is given to one who is thought to be deserving, but his actions prove otherwise.

Can they reason with the radicals or will things go south? And will the chosen man pick up the mantle after a devastating occurrence?

"A gift." One guard says to someone else in the room as he leaves. I groan in pain and scrunch myself into a ball, squeezing my eyes shut. Seconds later I hear shuffling and then someone is beside me. "Y/N?" Asks a voice. No- Bucky's voice. My whole body relaxes and I let out a soft breath. He's ok. ════ ⋆★⋆ ════ Staying together has always been the most important thing to Y/N Rogers. After the death of her mother left her an orphaned 15-year-old, her friendship with her older brother Steve and best friend Bucky mattered more than ever. She latched onto them, finding some bittersweet solace in their closeness. In turn, they finished raising her. The three were inseparable. Even now, six years later, nothing has changed. So when Bucky and Steve both leave to fight in the war the last thing she's going to do is stay in Brooklyn. Nothing's too far if it keeps their trio together. Not leaving everything she knows behind, not shoving down feelings she's refused to acknowledge for years, not even risking her life time and time again. It's the kind of commitment fueled by an infinite amount of love, but guaranteed to end in disaster, every single time. Valerie was one of the original Avengers but was taken hostage by HYDRA after being saved by Tony Stark only a few years prior. Upon her return the group soon discovers she was brainwashed and her memory had been wiped. In hopes to return back to normal her only hope is to confide and trust Bucky Barnes. Previously the Winter Soldier, he was tortured and brainwashed just as she was, she was hopeful to find the solution to her problem. Having already returned back to normal life (sort of), Valerie is desperate for help to remember and free herself of everything HYDRA did to her.
