It's not fun to date the person who takes part in the Kamukura project. Basically, Komaeda and Hinata are a couple and Hinata gets the surgery. Hinata's strong feelings for Komaeda (sort of) carry over to Kamukura. So while Kamukura tries to understand his weird fascination with him, Komaeda wants to find out where the hell his boyfriend went. (Junko doesn't brainwash class 77-B in this story.)
