Almighty Allah has directed us to make earnest entreaties to him or call on him for the fulfillment of our needs, and The holy quran assures is that Almighty Allah is very close to his servants and he listens to their petitions and grants them. 
The holy Qur'an  says: 
"Call on me, I will answer (your prayer)" (40:60)
