Demons versus humans. Demons bad, humans good. These were the ideas that took hold in the Over-realm, the dimension where humans and magical creatures live in harmony. With tethers linking to the Under-realm, however, humans came to believe that they were permanently under siege.

Cinder, half-human and half-demon, was stuck between both worlds. The only place that was safe for her was Kingdoms United Academy, where both royalty and magical creatures could learn in harmony. There, she met her best friends, Criss and Linnea, and finally found a place to belong.

Some things didn't add up. What were these inspectors, supposedly there to judge how well the school was doing, really there for? Why were Cinder and Linnea almost killed that night? Above all, what were the demons there for and what were they planning?

When magical beasts cross into Japan through portals, magical huntresses (and some magical huntsmen) are there to slay them. Consisting of a group of teenagers and young adults working semi-independently under the guise of the Protection and Research Agency, they fight day in and day out for a variety of reasons, using special rings to transform and gain weapons to use in their battles, for which they get paid for each magical beast they kill and bonuses if they save anyone attacked by them. However, Hana has deeper ambitions to restore the honor of her family name, and she aspires to attain power by any means necessary. Can Ruka help Hana with her dreams, or will she be swept up in them?
