When in complete calmness you could notice this difference but when you wake up in an unfamiliar field with the sound of sheep blaring above you, this calmness is like an unsolved mystery to you. Just like how you would not notice the strangeness, Matthew also did not notice a single strange thing, well... except being nowhere near home that is.

George Weasley lost an ear, taking away 50% of his hearing. But after the traumas of the war he lost most of his hearing. He wasn't sure if his body just didn't want to listen to the echoes of his past or if it was just the dark magic that cursed his ear off.
