BOTH SANJI AND ZORO MET AND HUNG OUT WHEN THEY WERE YOUNGER, AROUND 6 TO 7 YEARS OLD. ZORO WENT TO NORTH BLUE FOR A WHILE WITH HIS PARENTS, THEN LEFT AND WENT BACK TO EAST BLUE AFTER SOME BUSINESS HIS PARENTS HAD WERE FINISHED, FROM THEN THEY HAD NEVER SEEN EACH OTHER SINCE, FOR 12 YEARS. THEY BOTH KEPT A TALISMAN THAT OF THEM EXCHANGED WITH EACH OTHER BEFORE PARTING... ONE HAD IT TIED TO HIS PRECIOUS SWORD AND THE OTHER HAD IT KEPT IN HIS SUIT'S POCKET.
