Everything Austin knows about this world is about to change. After being the sole survivor of a mysterious train incident and witnessing the paranormal for himself, Austin has to face the fact that his world isn't the only one. The veil between realities has been torn open, and malevolent spirits start to slip through to feed on the ether--the life force--of the living. Yet the spirits aren't the only troubles he has to worry about. His grades start to slip, and the recent loss of his father has torn his family apart. Forced to take a stand against the spiritual, Austin takes up the practice of exorcism to rid his home of the spirits that seek to take everything away from him. But can Austin protect the lives of everyone he holds dear while also trying to keep his own life together?

Tom has always treated demons like equals, but he never expected to fall in love with one. Not Ezra, who was condemned to take evil souls because of his own dark past. An angel's virtue is never questioned, while a demon's state of mind is always doubted. Befriending a demon is dangerous. Falling in love with one is an act of lunacy, one that forces Tom to fight for change in a world that's growing more hateful by the day. Violence is on the rise, especially in the Glass Horns pub. Tom has worked behind his parent's bar for four years, and humans are irritating demons more than ever. But are the demons to blame, or is something far more unjust warping the truth?
