Everything Everywhere All At Once

Evelyn Wang, a woman in her fifties, and her modest husband Waymond struggle to maintain a popular laundromat company. Her elderly father has been transferred to live with them in their already crowded apartment from his old-age facility in China, and her daughter Joy has been pleading with her to accept Becky as a girlfriend. Evelyn rushes through her responsibilities like most Asian mothers do, finds issues with Joy's lifestyle-which includes tattoos and a white, non-Asian partner-that is also a woman, and then considers the requirements of her demanding father, whom the family affectionately refers to as Gong Gong.
Evelyn and Waymond are about to visit the IRS office on the day of the Chinese New Year since their firm is being investigated for tax evasion. Joy is expected to go with them as a translator because the investigation is taking place there. Despite having lived in America for the majority of their life, neither Evelyn nor Waymond are fluent in English since they were not exposed to other cultures to the same extent as Joy, who can hardly speak Chinese.
