"You can cage my body, but you'll never own my soul," she said, her voice trembling yet firm, her eyes blazing with a defiance she refused to let die. "I'll fight you until my last breath."

"Curse me, hate me all you want or even wish for my death, but none of it will save you. You're mine, my madness, my insanity, and I'll carve that truth into your soul if I have to, Alena." His lips hovered by her ear a whisper coated in venom.

"I don't need to keep you anywhere," he said, a low chuckle escaping him as his gaze softened, almost mockingly. "I only need you to believe I can."
