Emily "Falcon" Mitchell and Bradley "Rooster" Bradshaw have known each other their entire life. With their fathers being best friends, it was obvious that the two of them would hang out all the time. When Bradley and Emily were only about four years old, Bradley's father passed away while flying with Emily's dad, Pete "Maverick" Mitchell. Emily and Bradley always stayed the best of friends even through their teens and into the Naval Academy and Top Gun. Lucy "Halo" Mitchell is the daughter of Captain Pete Mitchell. From a young age, she grew up in the Naval Aviation industry, which she ended up working in. Amongst that group was Bradley Bradshaw, the man she had not spoken to since she was a teenager because of a falling out between him and her dad. Tensions exist, but they are not strong enough to deny the love Bradley and Lucy have for one another. Bradley and Lucy grow close, and he helps overcome her fears of flying. Except one day, Lucy realizes everything he has told her was a lie. She ends up leaving him for DC so she can go back to being a full time fighter pilot. While there, she runs into some old friends, and even makes an enemy or two. With her new life, she thinks she escaped Bradley entirely, until one day, on deployment, he arrives with a squadron for a special mission.

Today, the navy calls it fighter weapons school The flyers call it: TOP GUN. In 1986, for the first time in the history of the Navy; a female pilot got the call to join top gun. Blake Reynolds, call sign 'thunder' was the best pilot in her old base. With her best friend and radar intercept officer (RIO), she's joining as the first and only woman to ever attend the school for the best pilots in the world, top gun. She's sharp, confident and can fly a plane in her sleep. The only problem she'll have to deal with are the cocky men who think it's not a place for a woman. One of them, with bright eyes and black hair and a sickening sweet smile is the only one to look past her gender; look at what she can do What she does better than any man on board.
