20-year-old Cora Jefferson knows something that most humans never will: that faeries exist. Not only does she know about faeries, but Cora Jefferson is best friends with one. She's practically grown up alongside Emeline Damaris, a faerie princess hiding in the human world.

Emeline may be a princess, but she's a secret one. She's on the run from the powerful dark fae that killed her parents, stole the crown, and forced her into hiding. She's terrified those dark fae will eventually come for her. One day, they do.

To save her best friend, Cora makes a dangerous decision: she poses as Emeline and gets dragged into the faerie world as a prisoner. There, she meets the dangerous and powerful fae prince, Augustus Vernize. Cora expects Augustus to kill her at first sight, but she learns his plans are more ambitious - he intends to marry "Princess Emeline" to secure his position as King.

Thrust into a world she knows little about, Cora's only hope for survival is to keep pretending to be Emeline. But keeping up the charade has the potential to turn deadly - especially when Cora shares the same space as a dangeorus fae prince.

Cora is worried that the discovery of her secret will lead to her death, but as Augustus begins to develop a twisted obsession with her, she may have bigger problems. As his infatuation grows, Augustus intends to turn Cora into his bride as well as his mate. Willing or not. Princess or not.
