I came near Damian. In our semi-circular burrow strongest males slept at the entrance in order to defend the whole pack in case of an emergency. While everyone was still looking at Lucas and they were finally fed up and carefree, I caught the opportunity to learn the truth about today's event.
"You're bleeding." I told him softly.
"I knew you'd join me tonight, though I am a hero now and I deserve the princess." He said smugly.
Only Damian called me princess. I did not know whether to be insulted or to take it as a compliment.
"You know that's not why I came but ..." and then I saw a puddle of fresh blood under his front paws. Deer blood is already dry. This was Damian's blood.
"Are you injured?" I asked silently, looking back over my shoulder to make sure noone hears me.
"Come on, we are not ordinary wolves, we are double the size and five times more powerful."
Uttering it he paused and looked at me.
"If you're not injured by a deer, than why are you bleeding?"
