EMBER: Four years after the apocalypse, the United States is in ruins. We're still not sure of how many are still our there, struggling to survive. It could be just me and Sonia. Life is a quiet nightmare. The silence of the new world is enough to drive anyone over the edge of sanity. Yet we know we are being followed and watched by a mysterious group of hooded warriors. Their goals are unknown. If this were four years ago, we would just call the police. But this is the apocalypse. And there's no one left but us.
SONIA: Ember. That is the name of my best friend who has stuck with me through and through. A best friend can turn the most dauntless endeavors into the most memorable experiences. Only one problem. This is the new world. This is the world after the apocalypse. And a hike in the mountains is not exciting and adventurous when you're starving, you're lost, and you're being chased relentlessly by mysterious warriors of whom you only know one thing. They. Will. But during a zombie apocalypse, when you get desperate, you're desperate. When you're out of options, you need to do what you need to do to survive every day. Sometimes, it might not always be ideal. But when push comes to shove, when you're barely alive and should be dead, the people who you don't know may just save you. Surviving without enemies is hard enough. But when the past comes back to haunt and enemies come to fight, the apocalypse may just become almost impossible to survive. Brains and brawn may not be enough. It takes heart to make it day to day. They knew it would be hard. They didn't know it would be next to impossible to survive. This is a story my friend and I wrote together. It took us about a year to complete. "Who's out there?" One of the men yelled. Of course only silence met them. I remained quiet and waited for the group to start moving again. "Maybe it was just an animal." Someone whispered. The person, who I assumed was the captain of the small squad, signaled for them to walk again. They clearly showed fear as they kept going; brandishing their weapons to guard themselves with. "Two are holding lanterns. I'll tell you when you're too close to them." I heard my friend whisper in my ear. I followed the men as I picked up another branch and waited for the right time to break it. They continued to walk through the forest, turning their heads in every direction as if an animal might lunge at them and rip their throats out. I guess in a way I was going to do that. "Go back a few feet." My friend whispered. I carefully distanced myself from the group and waited. "Where is she?" I quickly snapped the stick as soon as he finished asking the question. They stopped and two soldiers raised their lanterns to shine its light in the darkness. I quickly hid behind a tree before both of them turned where I was. A low frustrated growl came from one of the men, "The girl's playing with us. She's out here following our every move." How paranoia can cloud the mind. At nine years old, Silver decided to leave her village for the forest. Since then, she's been hunted; everyday is a fight for her life, every breath she takes could be her last, but she's determined to stay alive. Her life isn't the kind anyone would want to live but she's managed to survive this long so, what's a few more years?Complete

Four months ago, Earth was attacked by a cyborg species called Scrappers. Two months ago, the Scrappers stopped killing and started taking. None of the captured have been seen again. ** The eyes looking back at me weren't black. His hair was plastered to his head, the same as mine, and that also surprised me. Scrappers didn't sweat. They also didn't breathe heavily, as this one was doing now. He was just as frantic as I was, and his eyes were also just as fearful and wide. He was human. But his arm wasn't. ** Now, within dead cities and abandoned highways, Morgan fights to stay hidden from the Scrappers as they search for humans. She travels alone and trusts no one but herself. But when Morgan meets a boy named Jude with a metal arm, something only the Scrappers could have given him, she chooses to trust him despite her fears telling her otherwise. Not only was Jude taken by the Scrappers, but he was also the first one to survive them and now they want him back. With the Scrappers still hunting them, Morgan and Jude travel east in hopes to find more humans. As their group slowly grows, Jude hides the secret about his arm but when one of their group betrays them, he's found out. When they leave Jude behind for the Scrappers to find, Morgan surrenders herself over with him, even when it may cost her her life. As final a battle rages around them between humans and Scrappers, Jude and Morgan may be the key to ending it all.Complete

And something bad does happen when Emmi is kidnapped, and it is no one's fault but Charlotte's. Through this obligation alone, Charlotte feels like it is her responsibility to get Emmi back, to right her wrong. In helping Nate pursue his kidnapped daughter, Charlotte inadvertently allows herself to feel again, to care for those other than herself. The country Avero that was subdued in the war a few months ago has launched an attack on the country of Novadel but it was something else, something dangerous they've hidden from the world and a large threat for everyone. Erin who retired from the military after the war is now just another traveler waiting for her flight for vacation in Aerodome until the world outside suddenly begins to fall apart. An unknown virus is spreading and ravaged the central city of Karnas that managed to reach Velis, Erin is now forced into a fight for survival. She ventures into the city of Velis and it's occupied surroundings. The more of the destruction caused by this unknown virus unfolds before her and this is what seems to be the start of a second war not with just humans but something more frightening and deadly.
