Somewhere between "The Sound & The Fury" and "Dark Shadows," lies the small town of West Fork, Alabama.

Before that night in the fall of '89, the scariest things about living in West Fork was the varsity football team not making the playoffs or peaking before eighteen. Kurt Rodgers, quarterback for the team that was one play away from winning a state championship, had determined two years earlier that wouldn't happen to him. He would get out and never look back.

Now, after two years of college, Kurt finds himself back home, disappointed and disillusioned. On the very night he returns, a series of bizarre murders begin. With each sundown, the body count rises. The police are stumped; the only thing the victims have in common: their bodies drained of every drop of blood.

Taking a job with the local newspaper, Kurt delves into the mysterious killings. He has no way of knowing his search for the truth will lead him somewhere he isn't prepared to go.

His sister Teri has fallen under the spell of a handsome stranger in town, the dashing and debonair Nick LeRoux. Kurt, however, begins to suspect the romantic and gentlemanly behavior are a sinister façade, masking a dark and malevolent secret. While she sees only Southern charm and rakish good looks, he sees the Devil with a drawl. As he fights to stop the growing evil that threatens his town, he struggles with his own demons, helpless to stop the hypnotic spell that has been placed on his sister. By the time he discovers the terrifying truth, it may already be too late.

Inspired by classic Eighties vamp flicks like "Fright Night," "Near Dark," and "The Lost Boys," ... when vampires were badass, dressed like rock stars and had swagger, journey once more to a nostalgic time, the early escapades of adulthood and the bittersweet memories of first love, all set against a backdrop of down-home Southern horror.

"Alvin! Kenny!" I called out, hearing more footsteps move from one place to another. Some idiot was moving around... I couldn't see them... "Alvin?" I asked, my eyebrow raised a little in confusion. I was looking in the direction of the footsteps, hoping they'd move again. "Alvin come here! What do we do now!? ALVIN!" I yelled, I glanced back at the wave of vampires still approaching. We were getting most of them, but they all were still coming closer each second. When I looked back in Alvin's direction, it felt like a blur. Someone was standing in front of me, I hadn't even heard them move towards me. "Alv-" I couldn't even finish my sentence, everything started to blur, then turn black. And just like that, I fell unconscious. -------- Damien was a VEP- Vampire Eradication Police. His duties consisted of patrolling the outside on the streets, securing weapons and fighting against the Vampires when they attacked in their waves. It happened every few years, it was pretty much expectable. Until someone new showed up, a different kind of vampire. Cadell. What made him so different? It was the fact that he didn't seem so bloodthirsty as the others were, he just seemed glued to Damien's hip wherever he went. But what happens when Cadell actually falls in love with Damien? What will he do? He's supposed to kill vampires, not befriend them. So what's next? [WARNING: Stockholm Syndrome, Depression, Violence and Swearing] {TRIGGER WARNING}

I stepped forward and asked, "Where do you want me?" It took me a second to realize what I just said. Shit! I placed a hand on my crimson face and muttered, "Get your head out of the gutter! You know what I meant." He laughed, his voice sounded hoarse and deep even when he's laughing. I peeked at him from the gap I made between my fingers. He was close. So close. He grabbed my hand and took me to the bed. Damn! It did sound sexy. His shirt was loose. Too large for me, and it hung on me like a cloth hung on a hanger. He sat on the bed, criss crossed and pulled me to him. ♡♡♡♡♡ The thing about love is... its unpredictable. Even when you don't want love, it just happens. Book 1 of (The Awakening Series) {#1 Supernatural} {#1 Paranormal} {#1 Lycans} {#1 Vampire Romance} {#5 Royalty} The world went to shit long before I was born. Humans like me use to believe other species were nothing more than fictional characters, myths, or figures of one's imagination. But that was before vampires left the shadows and decided to reveal their species to the world. I've been told that teenage girls use to fantasize about being swooshed off their feet by those mysterious creatures. Insane. Matter of fact, insane would be an understatement, they were fucking lunatics. Vampires are not some fictional character that would love you like no other. No, vampires are not some sort of myth, and they most certainly are not, a figment of anyone's imagination. They are very real, and they despise the human race. In fact, they have enslaved my entire species and formed a new world. Each continent is owned by a ruthless, bloodsucking, barbaric, the vampire king. Every single one of them has played a part in the war of the awakening, showing no mercy, killing without question. Humans didn't even stand a chance. Our army and world leaders were killed or imprisoned in less than a couple of days. They slaughtered my race, but it didn't stop there. No, that was only the beginning of human suffering. Trust me when I say the death was truly a kindness, because anyone who survived the awakening, would beg for death. I was positive that my suffering would come to an end when I turned eighteen. I was hoping and praying to be marked as a feeder, nothing more, nothing less. Death was the only way out of this world. You see, all of the kings who ruled over the earth were cruel and calculating. They are all tyrants in their own right and they all answered to one vampire. Who was known as the most barbaric of them all and I was marked as his chosen. The King of all Vampire Kings. This is the continuation from Summer Tide. As always, commentary and rating of the story is welcome. This story is dedicated to... To Kassie for being a patient editor, drilling in organization skills into my head since high school and just being an awesome friend. Matt for being the greatest love, encouraging me to keep writing no matter what anyone said, willing to listen to my insane ideas no matter how late it was at night, and being my muse. My family who supported my creativity and been my greatest fans throughout all of it. Jeff, my brother, for providing me with unique depth for this story. And last, but not least; the best band and greatest musical inspiration: Fall Out Boy, whose songs I could never live without nor write without. Here is the description: After five years of loneliness, Dawn has just about given up again. No word from Emery Winchester, the only man/ vampire who ever expressed a love for her, a simpleton job of taking peoples portraits at a local photography studio, and a crammed apartment with her ADHD best friend, Patrick. Yeah, she doesn't have much to live for. Until the letter and invitation that is. One to a grand masquerade ball, giving her an opportunity to search for absent Emery behind masks and Victorian gowns, and a letter of importance to the truth of her heritage. Meanwhile, a serial killer is on the loose and targeting Dawn specifically. Does she have something to live for now? To escape and outwit Legion, the cult that fawns over of the killer, she must go to England where a journey of the mind & soul is waiting and a search of her curiously unknown family. Only to discover the identity of her stalker and world far more complicated than she could have ever imagined...
