To be so stranded that every human instinct falls away, your once-sharp fight or flight reactions turn sluggish, kept alive by some higher force that you can't quite place, that you wish would disappear so that you could just stand in front of their guns and die.
But you can't.
Because inside all of us there's a little flicker of hope, and that can turn into a fire. To a blazing roar that pushes you through it all, through the worst situations in the world.
We humans are survivors.
And we will make it.
