On an Earth not far away from this one, Stephanie Santiago is a professional baseball player. The best that there is. She can pitch, and hit like no other. She is a very self-assured young person, and she will not sign a long-term contract, nor will she allow herself to be traded. She was born and raised in Colorado, and that is the only team she will play for. Stephanie lost her father young, to cancer. As a result, she has made benefiting Cancer her charity. In her home city, at the hospital she is endowing after her successful rookie year, she meets Le Garten. A young man with Leukemia. This chance meeting and her chosen charity lead her to be abducted into another world. A world where Magic works. In that odd world where things seem so much the same as her world, yet so different, the mysterious Reverend Mother explains that she needs Stephanie and Le's help. She is going to get more than she asked for.
