Throwback Vol. #1 (Violent Faith) by MDStephens

In light of readers telling me how much they enjoyed the short story collection, "Strange Mutations (one man's trash)", I decided to dig deeper into that old, smelly trash-bin and see what else I could scrounge up. So, readers beware, I will be publishing a slew of old stories under what I decided to call- "The throwback series". I needed to find a way to segregate these stories from my current writing because what's presented here are some rough drafts that spawned from an amateur who was just beginning to dip his toe into the world of literature and didn't have the slightest clue what he was doing. But don't run off!!! As long as you don't expect a bestseller, and keep an open mind, you may be surprised to find something you enjoy about these twisted tales. I do this only because I find it fun to go back as see how much I've grown as a writer from where I started, and only hope you have fun with them as well. Just don't hold it against me. I'll think you'll find a big difference in prose and style if you check out some recent stories under my profile. So first in the Throwback line-up is... Violent Faith. He has his sloppy moments, but if you stick around long enough, he just might surprise you and occasionally knock one out of the park. The title of this novella pretty much covers the plot, so sorry, no description really necessary. I was inspired to write this story after reading Jon Krakauer's novel, "Under the banner of heaven", which was based on true events. My story, however, is completely fictional. It is not meant to be an attack on any certain person or religious group, although it may seem that way at times. I was just having fun. I'm well aware that most Mormons are not psychopaths. It was just a fun theme to play around with. All persons, places, and events are nothing more than my imagination and not to be taken seriously. I have written this for confused women who don't know how to value themselves. I've written this book for that young lady who doesn't see her worth. I have written this for that insecure girl who wants to take her own life because she feels her life isn't worth living anymore. May God use the words in this to breathe life into tired souls. What makes me qualified to write this kind of e-book? I can tell you that I was once very insecure about myself. I have been all that I've mentioned above. When I was a child, I had death wishes. When I grew into a teenager, I wanted to kill myself or wanted to disappear and be invisible. When I grew into adulthood, I was so insecure about my own self-worth that I let it stop me from living the life I was supposed to live. But I outgrew all of these because I grew confident - confident of God and myself. I won't say that I've reached the perfect level of confidence but I grew up a lot. In this e-book, I will talk about confidence and identity. I hope you will take the time to take this growth development with me. I have made this a God-book because after all - God is the source of confidence.

It always seemed to me somewhat self-indulgent and egotistical for somebody to spend time writing about their life and then expect other people to read it. I am not a writer, something I think all my English teachers at school would have concurred with-I was a mathematician-but I felt obliged to write my life story after my inner world conspired to write a response to the problem of Being. Always too much. Unless I sat quietly. But I've always been a firecracker and all of that containment really made me want to blow off! All of what was inside of me, swirling and dividing in me. Herein are opinions, observations, and things autobiographical. These essays and editorials were written within, oh, 2 or 3 years. I've survived autism, mania, depression, amnesia, multiple personalities, being borderline suicidal as a teenager ... and aardvark pox. (Or was it turkey pox?) My "editorial opinions" prove that I'm a fearless, ferocious... ¿Were-Chihuahua? [Every full moon, I turn into an ankle biter.] Me?? Delusional?? Nope. I was moved to write this story in an effort to educate people about God, His laws and how it caused me to separate myself from a religion I practiced for nearly 40 years. I also hope to inspire others to gain an interest and perhaps, as I have obtained, a passion for studying Biblical Hebrew. I will also uncover a centuries old conspiracy to conceal the actual name of God! Another purpose is to dispel some myths that people that leave The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints leave for only two reasons; they have lost faith, or they have been offended by someone. This is not the case with me, and I believe there is a growing number of people who have left for similar reasons. I want to be clear, my intent is not to destroy the church. I do not have any animosity towards the church nor the leaders or members. I acknowledge many members and leaders of the church are truly dedicated to living the gospel the best they know how. I also have great empathy for current members of the church as just a few years ago, I was a devout member of the church myself!

JUGDE ME; I DARE YOU! If you've never messed up...cast a stone at me. I sensed their rage from the way they looked at me. I heard the disapproval of the world and felt the hate from the society. From the way the universe worked on me... it seemed like it was against me. I did the most unthinkable things... I am sure my parents in heaven will be disappointed ... they might hate me forever- and my friends; embarrassed of my existence. One thing I know for sure is- am not the only one who lost their way while trying to figure things out, am not the only one who has worn her shirt inside out, am not the only one who has gotten into street fights, am not the only one who has preferred the lies to the truth...am not the only one who is cursed! Can I not be forgiven? can't my imperfections be ignored? So, unless you're God; unless you've got perfection in your DNA- unless you've never messed up...cast a stone at me. JUDGE ME, I DARE YOU!
