Welcome to Halcyon Hills, a safe place created by scientists for scientists. You will be taken into this unsettling 1950s based dystopia where peace rhymes with perfection and stability. So, put your rose colored glasses on and get lost at your own risks. Life is beautiful, isn't it?
This is part of a collection of short stories I am currently working on; 'Broken Dreams'.

Beneath the Shadowlanders
We knew something wasn't right from the moment we awoke. It was like something was missing - a part of our very souls - and we couldn't sense the deficiency, no matter how hard we tried. A hundred million eyes adjusted to the dark all at once, all surprised to be awakened so soon. We ran through our checklists of limbs and senses, drawing ourselves out of our dreams piece by piece. Some went back to sleep, unaware, unbothered, too tired to notice the difference. Some lay in bed, too anxious to stand until the light of dawn crept through their windows at last, and they were sure the monsters in their closets had gone back to sleep. Some leapt from their slumbers, more keenly aware than others that the missing pieces were important. But we didn't know. We couldn't have. Not until we found ourselves standing in the light and discovered: We no longer had shadows.Concluida
Redemption Reserved for Superheros
(edit) I forgot to add that this started out as a confessional journal about becoming clean after a 10 year + addiction to OTC cold meds, but that was not my style of writing, I liked the material so I wanted to expand it into a novel length work featuring the journal elements. To say this work is a roller coaster would put it lightly. Although there are elements of time travel I would consider my sudden transitions reality travel. I use actual experience and dreams as a foundation, then toss in some fourth wall breaking narratives (meta-fiction), with a sprinkling of facts and quotations from songs and factual articles. It tends to be written similarly to an essay sans the boring. I have been influenced strongly by Vonnegut and W. S. Burroughs , and a wide variety of album rock, and that bleeds through. The tags dystopian and dark humor describe the whole piece best but there is a lot of genre jumping. I've done a good deal of research, not just for factual things but for the type of writing I do. Although not technically fan fiction, there is a nod to Final Fantasy games. The cover photo is a shared copyright, Brian Barbour took the photo, I added treatments.Concluida
Spectrum Chronicles: Shattered Fates
Reality fractures in Halcyon Ridge. So do the people. They came for a medical study. They stayed because there was no way out. By morning, someone is dead. The roads have vanished. And something in the town is awake. Each of them bears eyes too vivid to be natural, powers they don't yet understand, and memories they would rather keep buried. In Halcyon Ridge, the past doesn't stay quiet. It hunts. Fear spreads faster than truth. Trust collapses. And the realization comes too late: The killer isn't hiding among them. It's part of them. In a town where time lies and reality splinters, survival demands remembering what was never meant to surface. Trust no one. Not even yourself.Concluida

I've never been able to taste fear before, but I do now, it lingers in the air. Like a flame. Kindled by the president, fed by the citizens, and I'm the one who has to put it out. The extinguisher? Possibly my life. ꧁ .・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・. ꧂ In a world where expressing emotions are illegal and can lead to execution, everything seems perfect. All the countries and their citizens are efficient, orderly and obedient, and nobody seems to question the rules. But Ada Alexander struggles to keep her emotions hidden and she discovers more and more feelings that most humans have forgotten long ago, love, grief, anger, pain and fear.
