To Chase The Sun

I awoke that morning in a start, the nearby shuffle of foliage and snap of twigs rousing me from a nights slumber. Eyes still blurry, and mind returning from a thick fog, the doe continued to pick her way through the brush- undisturbed by my presence. The gentle morning sun filtered through the leaves in rays, raining down on the forest ground with gentle yellows, and dappled her hide in gold.

I knew she didn't look at me in fascination as the way I did her, and that was fair.
